Powerdown steel crush tubes and washers are precision-dimensioned components that form the correct clamping interface for shock absorber bush installations. The crush tube sits inside the bush and limits how far the mounting bolt can compress the bush - preventing both over-clamping (which collapses and destroys the bush) and under-clamping (which allows the bush to walk out of the eye ring under load).
Using the correct crush tube is not optional. Incorrect clamping force is one of the most common causes of premature shock absorber bush failure and shock absorber noise in heavy vehicles - yet it is one of the cheapest and simplest problems to prevent by using the correct hardware at installation.
