Powerdown gas springs (gas struts) provide controlled compressed-gas resistance for heavy truck bonnet, access panel and cab door support. A working gas spring holds the bonnet or panel open securely while the driver or technician inspects the engine bay or performs maintenance. A failed gas spring allows the bonnet to drop without warning - a genuine injury hazard in any workshop or roadside maintenance environment.
Gas springs have a finite service life. The internal gas charge gradually leaks over time, reducing the spring force until the bonnet no longer stays open reliably. Replacement is straightforward and eliminates a significant safety risk.

Signs your gas spring needs replacing: Bonnet or panel will not stay open under its own weight, requires propping open with a stick or rod, operates more slowly than normal, or visible oil contamination on the piston rod. Replace immediately - a dropped bonnet causes serious injury.
