Powerdown Shock Absorber for Mack CH/CHR/Fleetliner/Metroliner [Front Steer]
Powerdown P-series Supershock absorbers for Mack are designed for the heavy multi-leaf spring front suspension systems used on Mack Superliner, CH, CHR and related platforms. These trucks carry some of the heaviest legal axle loads in Australian heavy transport - prime movers running three or four trailers, B-doubles and PBS vehicles operating at maximum payload on routes across Australia's freight corridors.
The multi-leaf spring front suspension on these Macks relies heavily on the shock absorber to control spring oscillation after road inputs. Worn shocks cause the spring pack to bounce uncontrolled, loading the steer tyres unevenly and causing accelerated wear across the contact patch - a costly and preventable issue with correct shock absorber maintenance.
- Specifically calibrated for Mack's multi-leaf front spring suspension geometry and axle load ratings
- Large bore with increased oil capacity for sustained high-load operation on Australian freight routes
- Viton seals and high-temperature semi-synthetic fluid for Australian summer operating conditions
- 360-degree arc-welded end mounts and one-piece eye rings for B-double and PBS vehicle load cycles
- Hydraulic stop reduces piston end-mount impact at full suspension travel under heavy loading
- DU bush in rod guide - reduces side-loading wear on the piston rod under heavy steer axle loads
Signs of worn Mack front shocks: Steer tyre feathering or cupping, steering shimmy at highway speed, increased stopping distances, excessive body pitch on corners or during braking, oil on the shock body, or driver fatigue from road feedback through the steering wheel. Inspect at every 200,000km service.
