Powerdown Road Train Shock Absorber - Heavy Trailer
Powerdown Road Train shock absorbers are purpose-engineered for the extreme demands of multi-combination vehicles operating on Australian outback highways and remote routes. Road trains carry loads that far exceed what European or North American suspension components are designed for, at sustained high speeds on corrugated dirt and chip-seal roads that generate enormous heat and vibration in suspension components.
Worn road train shocks cause load instability, excessive trailer bounce and accelerated tyre wear - each of which increases both operating costs and accident risk in remote areas where roadside assistance is hours away. Correct shock absorber condition is a fundamental road train safety requirement.
- Purpose-engineered for Australian road train axle loads and multi-combination vehicles
- Large bore with increased oil capacity for maximum heat dissipation on sustained high-speed outback runs
- Heavy-duty Viton seals rated for continuous high-temperature operation in remote conditions
- Upgraded damping forces for corrugated dirt roads and remote rural highway surfaces
- Reinforced 360-degree arc-welded end mounts for maximum durability under extreme cyclical loading
- One-piece eye rings - eliminates weld failure at end mount under heavy-cycle fatigue loading
When to inspect: Road train shocks should be inspected every 100,000km or at each major service. Signs of failure include trailer oscillation and snaking at highway speeds, oil on the outer tube, load instability on corrugated roads, or excessive tyre bounce visible in the mirrors. Failure to replace worn road train shocks increases rollover risk.
